Port Washington, N.Y. - Safavieh will introduce its first collection of sustainable indoor rugs by celebrity design icon Thom Filicia, a Designing GreenLeader with the Sustainable Furnishings Council, at the Fall High Point Market, held Oct. 22-27.
The new collection is made from 100% natural, extremely fine strands of hemp that is combed, brushed and softened to create the look and feel of coarsely woven wool, for indoor use. Also, the collection includes seven designs and a new, earthy color palette using pure vegetable dyes, according to the company.
"Each rug encompasses a combination of global, ethnic and modern influences that put this collection at the forefront of today's trends," Filicia said. "All of the rugs in the line use a rich gradation and detailed layering of color, giving them a beautiful approachability juxtaposed with strong and smart patterns."
Hand-knotted in India, the collection is designed to bring a transitional and colorful look to the eco-friendly rug category, according to Safavieh. As with all Thom Filicia licensed home products, the rugs are named for settings associated with the designer's childhood in upstate New York. A 6x9 rug will retail for $1199.
Safavieh shows at Market in Market Square, suite 120.
