Retail Editor 2, March 1, 2011

New York - Same-store sales rose 3.0% during the last week of February, according to the Johnson Redbook.
For the month, the Johnson Redbook Retail Sales Index rose 2.6%, slightly above target.
Redbook analyst Catlin Levis credited President's Day sales as well a encouraging early business in spring apparel and other seasonal categories.
"Private label merchandise seems to be performing well," she added.
Looking ahead, she noted the Easter holiday is three weeks later this year and will push sales into April rather than March.
