Vegas outlines seminars, new hospitality sector

Las Vegas — The lineup of education programs at February’s Las Vegas Market touches on a number of subjects from trends to web marketing to business strategy.
Program highlights for the show, which runs Feb. 1-15, include:
First Look: Las Vegas Market. HGTV’s Monica Pedersen and home furnishings trend expert Julie Smith cover the new products and trends at the show.Juan Montoya will be honored as World Market Center Las Vegas’ Design Icon.Design consultant Valerie Moran will discuss how to appreciate high quality and fine design.International furniture and interior designer Adriana Hoyos will review the influence of Latin America on contemporary design.Interior designer Lloyd Princeton will talk about how to spread the word about an interior design business using the new vocabulary of marketing.Lawyer-turned-interior designer Darryl Carter will speak about livability and the New Traditional style.Trend and merchandising expert Jennifer Castoldi of Trendease International will cover innovative shopping environments from around the world.Pure Contemporary’s Diane Burley will explain essential Web marketing techniques to attract and retain customers.Apartment Therapy contributors Rebecca Orlov and Abby Stone share how people are incorporating the latest trends and accessories into their homes.Home furnishing brand maven Kathy Ireland and furniture designer Angelo Surmelis will take part in a panel discussion about the influence of sustainability in the work of a group of high profile designers.
In addition to those programs, there will be events associated with the new Alfresco at Design + Living section for outdoor living products as well as special receptions and seminars dedicated to the mattress category, including an update on the bedding industry’s green initiative organized by the Specialty Sleep Association
The show’s “Academy Series” will be joined to the “Business Survival” series Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during Las Vegas Market at 4:30 p.m., followed by a reception. The program is being provided by the World Market Center Las Vegas and the Western Home Furnishings Association (WHFA).
