Comps Post Another Weekly Gain

Same-store sales rose 1.9% during the third week of February after a 1.8% gain the previous week, the Johnson Redbook reported last week.

Month-over-month saw a 1.6% comp increase compared to January, which was in line with target, according to Catlin Levis, Redbook analyst.

President's Day sales at the beginning of the week “did not appear to contribute much additional sales momentum,” she said. “Most schools, banks and offices were closed on Monday, but winter storms in many parts of the country, particularly along the Northeast and parts of the Midwest disrupted business and kept customers away from stores.”
