The Fashion Institute of Technology held its seventh annual Scholarship Awards breakfast at the Waldorf Astoria to support the school's Home Products Development program.
In addition to honoring student achievers, FIT also lauded several industry figures. Bill Kilbride, Mohawk Home, received the Industry Leader of the Year award, which was presented by Barbara Smith, television host, restaurateur and author. Laura Sen, formerly of BJ's Wholesale Club, received the Retailer of the Year award, which was presented by Lester Friedlander, Clover Corp. In addition, David Sabin, Salton, received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Cynthia Evans and Ian Gittlitz, ICD Publishing, were honored with the Humanitarian Award.
