Peacock Alley unveils new spring line
April 15, 2002,
AT THE NEW YORK MARKET Peacock Alley started the market with a reception in its 59th street store, introducing both its spring collection as well as the new products gained from its merger last month with high-end bath supplier King Cotton.
The company also introduced its first monogramming program for the bed and bath collections, from simple lettering to scrolling cursive styles.
Peacock also looks to double sales in its bath business this year. New introductions include Egyptian cotton waffle towels, which feature a taupe border on both ends, intended to provide a spa experience. Available in bath sheet, hand towel, mitt and kimono-style robe, the collection will retail from $6 to $146.
The Lexington towel is designed for both men and women with its classic chevron design and plain terry border, perfect for monogramming. The 100 percent ringspun cotton jacquard towel comes in bath sheet, towel, hand, guest, wash and men and ladies' robe, with retails ranging from $8 to $68.
Courtesy of the King Cotton merger, the product line of U.K.-based Chortex is now available through Peacock. Products include the Rhapsody towel, made of 100 percent Egyptian cotton with a range of 12 colors. Two styles of bath mats coordinate. Retails range from $10 to $146.
Peacock is also focusing on the younger set at market, and introductions in its baby line included Daydream, a 100 percent polished cotton toile pattern of cherubs, ribbons and flowers in a striking black and white combination. Retail prices range from $145 to $562 for quilted coverlets, $135 to $394 for duvets and $108 to $135 for shams.
My Favorite Blankie, retailing at $46, is soft and fluffy on one side and ribbed on the other and features a whipstitched trim in pink, blue, green and white.
In addition, Baby Pique is now available with a red and white houndstooth trim highlighting crib bedding and pillows, bassinet sets and such accessories as bibs, burp cloths, hooded towels and washcloths. Retail prices range from $63 for a fitted sheet to $236 for the reversible bumper pad.
