At the New York Market - Upscale rug house Safavieh is launching more than 150 designs this week during the New York Home Fashions market.
The introductions fall within 10 new rug collections and 50 new decorative pillows - all set to be showcased at the company's showroom at 153 Madison Ave.
The new rug collections include four ranges of hand-knotted Tibetans woven in India in abstract patterns and tribal motifs updated with neutral and pale pastel color schemes. Safavieh's 600 series Tibetans is a group of 15 designs with cut and loop pile creating a diverse range of dimensional patterns including a flame stitch and several Moroccan style motifs. The 600 Series Tibetan rugs are crafted of silk and cashmere.
The next series of Tibetans, 650, are hand-knotted of linen pile and retail for $2,376.00 in the 6-by-9. This range launches with 12 designs, including a geometric grid and Moorish quatrefoil. Two additional collections, the 800 and 900 Series Tibetans, each features 15 patterns woven of wool and banana silk. Designs include water color ikat and nomadic motifs abstracted into contemporary graphics with tonal hints of color.
The company is expanding its flat-weave offerings with eight new additions to the Safavieh Sumak collection, 12 new Dhurrie rugs, a collection of eight flat-weave stripes and two Navajo designs. Four flat-weave kilim plaids are also debuting. The Sumak collection is expanding with 10 new designs hand-knotted in Turkey of wool in range of exotic motifs from ikats to Indian paisleys. The multicolor rugs are Safavieh's first departure from traditional Sumak patterns and offer a fresh design approach to the classic weave.
Safavieh is also showing 10 new designs in its Dhurrie collection of wool rugs hand knotted in India. With patterns ranging from Moroccan tile motifs to bold geometrics, the new designs are colored in earth tones and soft pastels. The Kilim Stripe, Kilim Plaid and Navajo flat-weave groupings are hand-knotted in India of wool in multi-colored heathered yarn.
From mid-century abstract graphics and pop art florals to refined Renaissance damasks, Safavieh's Porcello collection is unified with bold, vibrant color. Spanning 12 new designs, Safavieh's weavers capture the texture of fine European and Oriental rugs in these Belgium-made power loomed rugs crafted of enhanced polypropylene.
The company's indoor/outdoor rug collection, Courtyard, has been updated with 12 new patterns in black and white and black and natural sisal colorways. The collection is machine- loomed in Turkey of enhanced polypropylene.
Cyrus Yaraghi, Safavieh principal, also noted the company's new 3-D Shag Collection, comprised of rugs with pile heights in three dimensions. The sculpted shags are machine-made in China in eight fashion colors.
During market week, Safavieh's customers and industry friends are invited to breakfast and lunch daily at the company's showroom.
