Brylane boss has close company ties

French parent company will be able to keep closer tabs on U.S. operation

When he assumes his new role as chairman and ceo of Brylane (USA) January 1, Eric Faintreny will bring with him a long and extensive background within its parent division, Redcats, the home shopping subsidiary of Pinault-Printemps-Redoute Group.

Faintreny has been with the company since 1985, leading the Redcats Nordic division as chairman and ceo since January 2000, as well as serving as chairman of Redcats UK division since March 2002. The division has 20 brands and operations in 18 countries.

"Eric Faintreny has a long history with Redcats and has worked successfully for a number of our companies," said Thierry Falque-Pierrotin, chairman of the executive board of Redcats. "He has a very strong international background. I know that he welcomes the challenge of working in the United States and I am confident he will achieve great success at Brylane."

Faintreny first worked in the marketing department of the La Redoute division in France before moving to Redcats' specialized brands Daxon, Edmee, Celaia as marketing director.

In 1994, he moved to the United Kingdom to take the position of marketing director of Empire Stores, and then going on to become managing director of La Redoute UK and Vertbaudet UK. He was then appointed director of international operations at La Redoute in 1998 and then deputy chief executive, responsible for marketing and international operations, before being named to his current positions.

He will replace Russell Stravitz, who is resigning.
