SHANGHAI, China—Leading decorative fabric converter Richloom Fabrics Group is making a major commitment to its global business with the formation of a new trading company, Richloom Shanghai Trading.
Founded 50 years ago by the Richman family, the privately owned and operated Richloom Fabrics Group opened an office in Shanghai in 2004. Over the past few years, the company has substantially expanded its export business throughout the world, including Asia, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. Richloom Shanghai Trading was formed in 2006 to service the rapidly expanding decorative fabric business in China and other Asian countries, with a special emphasis on the contract and hospitality segments.
The U.S. remains Richloom’s largest market, accounting for about 75 percent of its annual sales. The company is a major supplier of furniture fabrics, outdoor fabrics and decorative fabrics to mass merchants, indoor and outdoor furniture manufacturers, over the counter retailers, decorative jobbers and the contract market. Richloom also supplies finished bedroom ensembles and ready-made window treatments to the retail, hospitality and contract trades.
Richloom offers a virtually endless array of fabric constructions, including prints, jacquards, tapestries, dobbies, yarn-dyes and piece-dyed fabrics. The company’s finished product line includes fashionable ready-made curtains and draperies as well as a luxurious range of bedroom ensembles constructed of opulent decorative fabrics and finished with exquisite embellishments, embroideries and trims.
Richloom Shanghai Trading is under the experienced management of industry veterans Jay Carlson, managing director, and Glenda Spangler, vice president, contract, Asia. The Shanghai office has more than 50 employees and is continuing to invest in hiring skilled personnel in design, technical weaving operations and production. The company maintains a cutting-edge research and design facility in Shanghai as well as state-of-the-art production facilities.
Richloom works closely with its customers and its production facilities to create unique and original designs, colors and fabrications, all at competitive price points. The company has design studios in New York and Shanghai, supported by the most up to date design software and computer systems. Richloom showcases its products at its New York headquarters in the 261 Fifth Avenue textile building and a separate showroom in Shanghai. The company also participates in major international trade shows, including Intertextile Shanghai and HD Asia.
Richloom Shanghai Trading is placing major emphasis on building its business throughout Asia, offering a complete assortment of decorative fabrics and finished home fashions to the residential and contract market.
