Perfect Fit Seeks Perfect Pitch

Brent Felgner, March 23, 2009

It's March 2009 and you're in the basic bedding business. Where do you go? What do you do?

If you're Perfect Fit, you begin by getting very creative with your packaging and your existing lines. You create a Big Mattress Makeover, bundling your bedding products in different put-ups in a variety of fabrics to create a "recession-buster" with compelling values, said Jeff Chilton, svp of sales and marketing.

"We're aiming at where we think the market is going to be with a lot of what we have on the floor," he said. "Right now, that's a lot of promotional and value-driven goods."

Perfect Fit also soft-launched its Southern Living basic bedding line in concert with PEM America, which holds the fashion bedding license. The company also rolled out Oodles, the engineered latex fiber fill, in toppers, pillows and mattress pads. The company finalized its joint venture with Latexco about two months ago and is now coming out with a line of latex products.
