Nourison Expands into Utility Rugs

Nourison's domestics division of accent rugs offered a healthy sampling of new scatters for the kitchen and beyond at market earlier this month.

To its longstanding and core line, washable hooked rugs, the company added "mud room" or laundry room looks — eight total designs — in a "sturdy, poly-acrylic" construction, according to Paula Paquette, vp, domestics. They are priced at $19.99.

Also new here are shaped florals — three-foot diameter rugs cut into the form of eight different flowers, including roses, sunflowers and peonies. The plan is to expand this offering soon with more novelty designs. These pieces are priced between $29.99 and $39.99.

Nourison is also adding latex-backed poly-acrylic printed rug styles in soft transitional looks. Some of these are enhanced with carved detailing on the patterns.

Additionally, the company is introducing a collection of six carved contemporary designs grouped as "Modern Accents." These are priced at $14.99 and higher.

Back to the kitchen, Nourison's new "Multi-Purpose" collection of fashion utility rugs were made to handle wear and tear — but in style. These machine-washable polypropylene accent rugs come in fashionable stripe patterns and tonal colorways that use "current" schemes.

In Nourison's area rug division, the company is looking to appeal to the value-conscious consumers with a broad offering of $99 rug styles in synthetic machine-made constructions.
