Surya, Australian Designer Launch New Line
November 20, 2013-- Home Textiles Today,
CALHOUN, GA. - At High Point Market in October, Surya launched new additions to its exclusive collection with Australian designer Florence Broadhurst.
The new products included rugs and throws based on the works of the late designer, who Surya described as a renegade in the design world, known for her exotic and iconic patterns found throughout her expansive handprinted wallpaper collection.
Featuring a range of classic motifs re-interpreted in both fl at weave and hand tufted constructions, the Paddington and Mount Perry rug collections are inspired by "Broadhurst's adventurous spirit and impeccable eye for scale, pattern and color-evoking a contemporary, yet timeless, feeling," Surya said.
The lush new throw collection features antique lattice motifs in reversible knitted designs crafted of sumptuous 100% cotton.
"Stylistically ahead of her time, Florence Broadhurst's influences were many and broad, and today reflect her ability to remain relevant and respond to divergent trends and tastes," said Mark Smale, ceo, Signature Design Archive (SDA), managers of the licensing for Florence Broadhurst. "We believe Surya's new collections embody the energy, drama and diversity that Broadhurst came to espouse."
Surya will also introduce a number of Asian-inspired and lattice motif pillows to its Florence Broadhurst pillow collection, which launched in April 2013.
