New York IFDA chapter to present annual awards

NEW YORK -This local chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) has scheduled its biannual Circle of Excellence awards ceremony on Jan. 30, with a gala cocktail reception at the Hudson Theater in the Millennium Hotel. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the awards presentation at 7:30 p.m. The awards will be presented to home furnishings professionals whose achievements have brought them to the forefront of the industry.

Aside from presenting awards within the usual five categories of Circle of Excellence-advertising/public relations, interior design, media/editorial, product design and development, and sales/marketing/management-this year the IFDA has added two new awards. The Rising Star award will be presented to a younger, successful and committed member of the NY chapter.

Also new is the Laurel award, which will be presented to Lynette Jennings, a pioneer in home furnishings who has received distinguished achievements throughout her career and has brought specific awareness to the industry. The "Lynette Jennings HouseSmart" series, a joint venture with The Home Depot, is the highest rated daytime program on cable television's Discovery Channel.

Tickets for the event are $50 for members and their guests, $65 for non-members. After Jan. 26th, attendees must add $10 to the ticket price. For more information, call the IFDA/NY office at (212) 686-6020.
