Tommy Takes it Outdoors

At the New York Market — With the Tommy Hilfiger Group under new ownership intent on re-energizing the brand, Tommy Hilfiger Home this market has overhauled the way it themes its assortment.
In step with the licensor's new direction, Tommy Hilfiger Home designs for this season each fall into one of three lifestyle categories: mountain, forest, and ocean. There is a surprising amount of variety and flexibility to be found in each group.
The mountain theme, for example, makes room for Wellesley, a Nordic print in red, white and blue with a fresh, modern appeal. The top-of-bed features faggoting that runs down both sides of the duvet cover. The sheet is a simple shirting stripe. Denim is used in the bed skirt and shams.
"Denim is part of our DNA here," said Jared Clark, the line's designer. The mountain theme also encompasses Winding Lane, a black and white story inspired by bucolic Hudson, N.Y.; Lakeshore Drive, an urban take on cabin couture; Hyannisport, an English floral; and TH American Patchwork, a mixture of florals, yarn-dyed plaids, and ticking stripe with a light touch of toile.
Tommy Hilfiger Home is showing two beds under the forest theme, both master bedroom looks.
Dover was inspired by an Asian screen and features a printed trailing floral on a woven stripe, which has been quilted for added texture. York is a bias-pieced paisley in rich menswear tones.
"We've always done very well with menswear and paisley," said Clark.
The ocean theme also includes two beds. South of France is a Provencal paisley print paired with a stripe and a windowpane sheet. Venice Beach is a batik print on a slubby substrate paired with Madras plaid.
