Nourison in new take on contemporary scatter rugs

Saddle Brook, N.J. – Nourison is taking its latex-backed kitchen rug assortment beyond the kitchen, while transcending its coffee and rooster motifs – among many others -- to now include geometrics and florals appropriate for other areas of the home.

Taking design cues from the company’s area rug business, Nourison’s domestics division of accent rugs experienced positive feedback from retail customers last week during the New York Home Fashions Market. Reaction was particularly positive about its more contemporary take on printed acrylic scatter sizes – including 2-foot-by-3-foot and 3-by-5 rectangles and 22-inch-by-54-inch runners.

“We’re calling this our Modern Accents collection,” said Paula Paquette, vp domestics. “We’ve added more updated patterns, like the ones you’d see in some of our area rugs, and the retailers received them very well.”

Also new from Nourison at market was a fresh batch of holiday hand-hooked, acrylic, machine-washable accent rugs. The company created 125 new novelty Christmas and seasonal patterns to add to Nourison’s archive of hundreds of other designs for the fourth quarter selling period.

Paquette said the company’s domestics business has been performing well. “We’re seeing gains as the product category has become an inexpensive alternative to more expensive redecorating options,” she added.
