KravetCouture: a unique blend
February 4, 2002-- Home Textiles Today,
Unique and new materials highlight the new KravetCouture collection — a mix of elegance and high tech.
The collection, in four design statements, is targeted to the top of the interior design trade. And borrowing from the Couture in apparel, Kravet has designed a "trunk show" that will bring the message to designers in non-metropolitan areas, Scott Kravet, a company principal who heads the product development activities, explained.
"We're aggressively taking this collection on the road which is rarely done at these price ranges," Kravet related. One of the key elements will be a series of trunk/road shows for decorators at design centers across the country. "We'll be inviting decorators from specific geographical areas to design centers in smaller markets where they might not have the opportunity to see the fashion direction as we're presenting it," Kravet added.
Typically, decorators in these markets receive sample books and visit showrooms in the smaller design centers without getting the full impact of the fashion and color directions involved in the collection, Kravet explained.
KravetCouture focuses on Silks, which is woven in India using all silk and blends of wool, linen and cotton in luxurious constructions including taffetas and ebullient, rich colors. Metals mixes jacquards, velvets, multi-purpose and drapery weights with silver and gold accents, high gloss, high tech and vinyls as well as coated fabrics. Embellishments mixes fabrics that have been pleated, quilted, embroidered and glazed using velvets, silks, chenilles, faux leathers and suedes.
