Alok receives social responsibility award

AlokDallas - Home textiles manufacturer Alok has been recognized for outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility for infrastructure development and improving the living conditions of the people of Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli in India.

The award was given by the Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli (UT), Silvassa.

Alok's state-of-the-art spinning and weaving operations in Silvassa constitute the single largest weaving shed under one roof in the world, according to the company.

The multi-category manufacturer's sustainability programs include interventions in to prevent environmental degradation, the promotion of energy conservation and efforts to encourage on community development.

Alok has also started a public school with the CBSE Board in Silvassa that trains and employs tribal women on weaving looms and garment/made up stitching machines. Alok has a Private Public Partnership with Silvassa Administration for converting the government owned Industrial Training Institute into a center of excellence.
