WestPoint names Savaria new ceo

Norman Savaria WestPoint HomeNew York - WestPoint Home has named Norman Savaria its new president and ceo, effective immediately. He succeeds John Piazza, who joined the company in May 2008. In addition, the company named Taran Chernin executive vp and chief merchandising officer.

Savaria was most recently president and ceo of the US division of Pakistanti home textiles manufacturer Chenab. Prior to that, he was for many years senior vp and chief merchandising officer for Revman, where he was also point man for the Tommy Hilfiger Home bedding and bath license.

Chernin served as vp of product development at Linens ‘n Things, responsible for product development, private label and global sourcing. She began her career at Bloomingdale's and ultimately served as fashion director of the home textiles group. 

"Building on a solid foundation of low cost owned manufacturing and sourcing we will focus on bringing our customers exciting new brands and products while servicing their individual buying and logistics needs with the goal of making WestPoint Home the preferred supplier of fashion and core home textile products," said Savaria.

WestPoint Home chairman Carl Icahn said the appointments "will further elevate the performance of WestPoint Home. I am confident that their extensive experience with home textiles along with their deep knowledge of brand management, product design and development and consumer trends will serve our customers and our company well."
