Delayed but not daunted, the Lycra sheet ready to debut

FORT MILL, S.C. — A year after it had its first showing during the New York Home Textiles Market, the Lycra sheet is taking a second bow — this time under the auspices of Springs Industries.

The sheet was unveiled in March 2003 by now-defunct Pillowtex Corp. Owing to that mill's precarious financial situation, production of the sheet did not go forward.

Springs will offer the Lycra/cotton-blended construction in a palette of 10 colors. The sheet's 20 percent stretch will allow it to accommodate 15-to-18-inch mattresses.

The new sheet will be sold to department and specialty stores under the Wamsutta brand.
