Mohawk to acquire plant from supplier Propex

Calhoun, Ga. -- Mohawk Industries plans to buy a Roanoke, Ala., carpet backing factory from Propex Fabrics. The big floor covering manufacturer, which did not release terms of the agreement, expects to the current Propex activity there to blend smoothly within its own operations.
"Propex has been a major supplier of secondary carpet backing to Mohawk,” said Mohawk chairman and ceo Jeff Lorberbaum. “We look forward to welcoming their employees into the Mohawk family and becoming a part of these communities." The plant now employs about 470 workers.
