Bloomingdale's to Open Outlet Stores
Macy's Inc. will launch Bloomingdale's Outlet stores in four locations this summer and is bringing back industry veteran Arnie Orlick to develop and expand the concept stores.
“The customer experience in these stores will reflect the Bloomingdale's brand with a strong value message,” said Michael Gould, Bloomingdale's chairman and ceo.
Bloomingdale's Outlet stores will offer a range of apparel and accessories, including women's ready-to-wear, men's, children's, women's shoes, fashion accessories, jewelry, handbags and intimate apparel.
Target Restates Commitment to India Operation
Looking to quell rumors about supposed plans to sell its India-based team and operations, Target Corporation issued a statement intended to “firmly restated” its commitment to Target India business in Bangalore.
The company said it “emphatically refutes the irresponsible rumor” that it is engaged in any discussions, or has any plans, to sell its Target India operations. This is the second time in three months Target has issued such a statement regarding the Indian division.
Target Corp. does know the source of “this ridiculous speculation,” but called it “unequivocally not true,” added Tim Baer, evp and general counsel of Target Corporation.
Target India, which employs about 2,100, “continues to more deeply integrate the work of its Bangalore teams with its U.S.-based teams,” the company said.
August Named Marketing Chief for SharperImage.com
SharperImage.com has tapped Steve August as senior vp and chief marketing officer for the SharperImage.com online and catalog operation.
He will also oversee direct marketing efforts for affiliates, portals and customer relationship management as well as customer analytics and database modeling. August spent nine years at Brookstone, where he most recently was operating vp for customer marketing. His hiring follows that of fellow Brookstone alum Mark Anthony as senior vp/gmm.
SharperImage.com, which launched this past October, is operated by private investment group Camelot Venture Group.
