Target & Todd head for home

Minneapolis — Todd Oldham will become the latest designer to create an exclusive line of merchandise for Target discount stores, with an agreement to develop a home line that will debut in summer 2002.

The line will echo the design sensibility displayed in Oldham's couture, which is known for over-the-top prints and bold use of color.

"Target and I have very similar views about what's important in design," Oldham said. "We both believe that consumers crave design that's smart and interesting, while at the same time is accessible and affordable."

In announcing the deal today, Target did not disclose what types of products Oldham will design. Target Stores president Gregg Steinhafel noted that the partnership "exemplifies Target's commitment to product innovation and making good design affordable."
