Cotton issues CD-ROM
May 17, 2004-- Home Textiles Today,
Cotton Incorporated recently added a new CD-ROM, "The Basics of Yarn Manufacturing," to its interactive educational program. The first three were introduced in 2003: The Art of Knitting, The Science of Dyeing and Finishing, and The Art of Weaving.
With funding from the Importer Support Program of the Cotton Board, the program is geared toward sourcing professionals. The CDs demonstrate how to transform raw cotton to fabric through manufacturing operations, with 3-D animation of intricate processes, technical illustrations and a glossary of terms.
"This educational CD program was developed to provide the first of its kind interactive sessions on various topics regarding yarn, fabric or finishing techniques," explains Dennis Horstman, Cotton Incorporated, director of brand marketing and global product marketing. "We have had a phenomenal response from all facets of the industry, as these accessible CD's enhance a company's training program, enabling employees to acquire more working knowledge from anywhere they have computer access."
