7W Plans Special Events For Gift Fair/Home Textiles Week

Showroom building 7 W New York is planning a number of events for New York Gift & Home Textiles Market Week, which runs August 14–20 in tandem with the New York International Gift Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Center.

Highlights will include exclusive In-Suite Events, a special International Buyers Day, a "Best of the Best" lobby display and the launch of an Antiques & Interiors Design Gallery on the 8th floor featuring one of a kind decorative art pieces and gift ideas.

7 W will also showcase a Pop-Up Retail Store Gallery conceived by the Fashion Institute of Technology's junior class. The gallery will offer an edited version of what is hot, new and trendy from the future leaders of the industry.

International buyers can take advantage of Shop Early Day on Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The day includes showroom specials, raffles, giveaways and refreshments co-sponsored by the 7 W Exhibitors Association.

Several showrooms will hold special buyer events Aug. 15.

  • Be Charmed at Isadora & Mizrahi, Suite 807 from 2p.m. to 4 p.m. Franni de Montfalcon of Franniart will demonstrate the best way to sell her modern interpretation of the charm bracelet. A free charm is included with each purchase.

  • Ecoarts/Transconnection Corporation — Bossa Nova, Suite 725 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Buyers can browse the new Ecoarts product line in this new suite while sipping Caiprinihas, tasting appetizers and listening to Bossa Nova. Buyers can also enter to win a trip to Brazil.

  • Only @ 7 W Soiree — Richard Cohen Collection, Suite 907 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Richard Cohen Collection will showcase more than 14 lines exclusive to 7 W along with refreshments.

  • Saturday Night shopping from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. includes beer, wine and snacks throughout the building.

  • NY Market: On the Town at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), 11 West 53 Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Show participants will celebrate Accent on Design's 25th Anniversary with free admission, compliments of NYIGF, 7 W New York, 41 Madison and 230 Fifth Avenue. Attendees need to present their summer 2009 badge for complimentary admission any time during Market Week (Aug. 14–20).

The following evening, the 58th Annual Retailer Excellence Awards will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis, hosted by HTT sister publication Gifts & Decorative Accessories. Tickets are $150 each, including cocktails and dinner, and are available through

A host of events will take place Monday, Aug. 17:

  • Antiques & Interiors Design Gallery Cocktail Celebration & Reception, Suite 817 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Gallery owner and curator John Aspley will be on hand for the launch of the John Aspley Collection of design & décor pieces. Wine, beer & appetizers will be served.

  • Ecoarts / Transconnection Corporation will hold a second Bossa Nova night at Suite 725.

  • Colonial Candle will celebrate its 100th anniversary at Midwest-CBK, Suite 500, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The company will introduce Celebrate! by Colonial Candle, a new limited edition anniversary fragrance, and six new exclusive fall and holiday scents. The event includes special anniversary discounts on Ovals and tapers as well as hors d'oeuvres and drinks.

  • Creative Bath Products, Inc. New Showroom Launch Reception, Suite 1000, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The company will showcase its newest decorative bath, housewares, storage & organization and decorative pillow lines.

  • Gallery Premiere — John James Audubon's The Birds of America Audubon Centennial Edition, D. King Irwin, Suite 739, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Come Together — La Villa Collections Debut Presentation of the ishoni Collection, Suite 735, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The ishoni brand designer Manuela-Federica Krebser will attend the U.S. debut launch reception.

  • Hawaiian Luau at 7 W, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. With live island music, hula dancers and a tropical drink in the lobby, cocktails and appetizers on showroom floors. Buyers can enter to win a Hawaiian vacation for two, retailing for $2,500.
