Bynon Joins Suntex

Tim Bynon, formerly of W-C Designs, has become executive vp of Suntex Designs, a newly formed division of Sun-Yin U.S.A. based here and in Shanghai, China.

Suntex will offer "well styled, high quality bedding, bath, kitchen and table linens products," Bynon said. "We are poised to take advantage of emerging opportunities and we anticipate signing licensing opportunities for upstairs departments."

Major department stores, regional department stores, specialty retailers and e-commerce retailers are viewed as key opportunities, he said.

The new business is headed by Kathy Feng, president and principal of the parent company, which has been in business since 2001. Sun-Yin manufactures and markets decorative pillows and throws at popular price points to many of the major retailers here, Bynon said.

"We're vertical in nature, well capitalized and have a strong factory presence in China and the world," he emphasized.

To accommodate the bedding, the showroom in New York at 261 5th Avenue will either move to a larger space in that building or elsewhere in the market. The California facility is 500,000 square feet.

In addition to Bynon, who served in a variety of capacities at W-C including product development, sourcing, merchandising and sales functions, new team members include Kathleen Conway, design director for bed and bath; Kim Stern, design director for table linens and kitchen textiles; John Olsen and Paul Schmitt, both vp-sales; Autumn Pace, vp-merchandising and operations; and Sherry McCloskey, vp-sales, Northeast, based in New York. All were with W-C.

Additional sales personnel will be added shortly, Bynon said.
