Milliken gains design show license

Milliken Carpet and Rugs recently partnered with cable television's Discovery Network to produce a line of carpet panels, broadloom and outdoor mats under the license of the company's "Trading Spaces" program, which is aired daily on The Learning Channel
This partnership comes one year after Discovery embarked on an effort to brand the show as a licensed property and began actively looking for partners to create a broad spectrum of home textiles, accessories and do-it-yourself products under the Trading Spaces brand.
This soft surfaces line is set to launch at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Two of Milliken's trademarked carpet systems, Legato and Tesserae, both being new do-it-yourself carpet panel products, will be the first products Milliken will promote under the license. Legato, which was recently featured on an episode of "Trading Spaces: Family" is sold exclusively through The Home Depot. Tesserae can be found at carpet specialty stores nationwide. Display signage will mirror the current packaging for the Trading Spaces home décor product line.
"The carpet panel system's innovation, value and simple installation are a perfect fit with the show's underlying themes of ease, affordability and homeowner creativity," said Eric Dunkelberg, director of new ventures, Milliken Carpet & Rugs.
Trading Spaces' premise is to help two neighbors redecorate one room in the other's home with a $1,000 budget, a 48-hour time limit and the assistance of two professionals — an interior designer and a carpenter.
