Springs Delves Into Lifestyle Trends
April 11, 2005,
At the New York Market —Springs continues to evolve its cross-merchandised, trend-based showroom with a third-floor presentation that speaks to eight lifestyle themes: Modern Luxe, Techno, Modern Living, Tailored, Trade Route, Greenhouse, Comfort Zone and Craft.
Modern Luxe is based on the company's Court of Versailles license and is rooted in basic elements with a large emphasis on menswear fabrics and metallics, including copper, gold and silver, which are seen on accessories in bath as well as pillows.
Referring to the luxury theme, Mary Shafer, Springs vice president of bath, joked, “It's not your teenage daughter's bling, but it's definitely bling for the home.”
Techno features modern, graphic elements that reflect a sense of motion. It is influenced by digital media and night club apparel fabrics and motifs.
Modern Living offers a bold and graphic take on pattern inspired by trends in apparel, while emphasizing the importance of wood and metal.
Tailored is about menswear-inspired fabrics with a twist of women's couture in a minimalist aesthetic. This theme presents a bed that's a combination of sateen, linen and faux fur in wide horizontal bands complete with a tailored dog bed with four buttons.
Trade Route features an evolution of Far East fusion that brings all cultural influences together in an eclectic earthy look with animal prints, exotic paisleys, wooden accents and stylized skins designs in unexpected colors.
Craft offers lots of macramé, knitting and embroidery with a couture spin on it.
Another bed is featured with individual embroidered vertical panels of colorful flowers on a cream ground with piping plus a striped dog bed with an embroidered flower gusset. Bohemian hand-crafted window panels and decorative pillows help round out the look.
In Greenhouse, all things natural are emphasized, particularly bold graphic flowers, fern leaves, floral silhouettes, lots of greenery and photo-reel techniques.
Comfort Zone conveys relaxation and reflection in the spa theme that is intentionally sparse. It welcomes in nature using copper and olive greens.
Meanwhile, Court of Versailles features clean tailored looks with six bed patterns, a stitched silk quilt, elegant faux fur throws, seven shower curtains, some coordinating with bedding, six bath accessory groups, and embellished towels with lace and cutwork.
New designs include Chateau, Dangerous Liasions, Racine, Alecon, Dejeuner and Panne.
