Surya Inks Licensing Deal with Dick Idol

Area and accent rug house Surya has partnered with Montana outdoorsman and artist Dick Idol to create a new collection of soft floor coverings that are set to launch in mid October during the High Point Market.

"I believe that great area rugs are a key design element in any room in the home and am confident that Surya will provide our customers with great selling refined rustic designs at a great value," said Idol.

Over the past 10 years, Idol has worked with product suppliers and manufacturers to offer consumers the Dick Idol Home Collection, a broad line of home furnishings and décor items with a "refined rustic" feel inspired by the Northwest.

The new collection with Surya was designed to complement the brand's new Montana Reflections furniture collection by Shadow Mountain and longstanding lighting program from Pacific Coast Lighting. Surya has divvied its Dick Idol rug assortment into two groupings, which together encompass more than 20 styles.

Suggested retails for 5-by-8 sizes include $199 for machine-made polypropylene rugs and $599 for hand-tufted New Zealand wool rugs.

"Our company continues to grow, and we believe our partnership with Dick Idol will help us tap into the outdoor-inspired product niche and reach a new customer who wants refined rustic styling," said Satya Tiwari, president of Calhoun, Ga.-based Surya, which is a more than 30-year-old family owned and operated company founded in India.

Surya's showroom at the High Point Market in High Point, N.C., is in the International Home Furnishings Center in the Showplace section in suite 3233.
