Cost Plus Marks 50 Years

Cost Plus World Market is beating the drum for its 50th anniversary. Founded on Fisherman's Wharf by San Francisco businessman William Amthor, Cost Plus has grown its original "out-of-the-crate" rattan furniture and basket trade into a 300-store chain.
Events will include product giveaways, food and drink samplings with celebrity chefs, and winemaker bottle signings. Bay Area consumers can enter the "Go THERE from Here" Bali Spa Sweepstakes, promoting the THERE line of luxury bath products. The grand prize: a spa vacation in Bali, Indonesia.
A second prizewinner will receive the most iconic of Cost Plus prizes: the store's hallmark Papasan Chair, filled World Market goodies.
