Sunbury Adds Lines, Expands Bedding

Following up on the 2009 launch of Quest, the company’s umbrella brand for sustainable fabrics and processes, Sunbury Textiles is launching two new collections for the luxury interior design market — Touch, a proprietary finish applied to natural fibers, and Premium Linen, a collection that is featured as pure linen in a variety of constructions that give widely varying hands and effects.
Added Jennifer Hendren, vp, design for jobbers: “We’re using eight to 10 colors in each filling yarn, and we have three fills.” She continued “the design aesthetic is new and fresh and all looks are included in the 75 patterns in the debut.”
An added plus, she said, is that the fabrics all pass standards to upholstery use without backing.
Tom Notaro, vp, sales and marketing commented: “We’re already building right away for new combinations beyond this launch.” The next product progression will be sheers.
Touch can only be used with natural fibers – all cotton, or cotton with exotic blends of baby alpaca or other natural fibers. Price points range from $20 to $40 a yard cost.
In the Premium Linen collection, all varieties of linen are used – alone or in blends.
“We have one-piece minimums and are extending the reach of the fiber with the designs ad constructions,” said Hendren.
The 75-pattern group for the debut starts at $23 a yard up to $50, depending on the novelty yarns involved.
Sunbury also is expanding its bedding collection – now in its third launch – which extends its reach both in design and coloring. The focus is more on graphic looks — geometrics and contemporary designs — as well as more overall designs and skin motifs in natural and unusual colors.
The bedding fabrics — 59 inches wide — are shown in 28 patterns with eight to 10 colors per pattern.
This season’s collection highlights fuchsia, magenta, kiwi and teal as fashion-forward shades for the bedroom. Price points are $5.95 to $12.95 per yard with the majority at $9.95.
