Delia's promotes two
November 19, 2001,
Delia's has announced the appointment of two senior vps to its management staff.
For the past two years, Taffet oversaw all acquisition-related legal activities for Gotham Hospitality LLC. From 1985 to 1999, he was with United Merchants and Manufacturers, the last 10 years as senior vp, general counsel and secretary.
"Ed brings a wealth of experience to our legal department, particularly in the areas of licensing, foreign sourcing, corporate and real estate law," said Andrea Weiss, president, "and we look forward to his contributions as the company enters its next phase of growth."
Taffet replaces Timothy Schmidt, who recently left the company to pursue other interests.
The company has also appointed Mark Engebretson to the position of senior vp of sourcing and production, reporting to Weiss.
"Mark's appointment as head of production and sourcing represents a key step in our efforts to build out this important team at Delia's," said Weiss. "We believe he is perfectly suited to oversee the ongoing development and expansion of our sourcing efforts, particularly as we work to implement enhanced quality initiatives going forward."
With more than 20 years in the apparel industry, Engebretson was most recently vp of garment production for Victoria's Secret Direct, where he oversaw all areas of the product development and manufacturing cycle. Prior to that position, he was vp of sourcing and production for Liz Claiborne's Collection division. He has also worked for A/X Armani Exchange, Tahari and Harve Benard in sourcing and production roles.
Engebretson replaces Susan Targas, who left the company to pursue other opportunities.
