Florence to be honored at FIT

NEW YORK — Home products entrepreneur Leonard Florence will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) graduation exercises on Monday, May 24, at 10 a.m.

Florence is the founder of Syratech Corporation, a manufacturer of sterling silver, tabletop, and home decor products. He is recognized as one of the 100 most important figures in the home products industry by Home Furnishings News.

Honorary degrees will also be bestowed on fashion designer Micol Fontana and photographer Gordon Parks. Robin Burns, president of Intimate Beauty Corporation, will deliver the commencement address.
