Stein Mart's May sales again led by linens

Jacksonville, Fla. - Linens continued to be a key driver of both sales and comps for Stein Mart in May.
The 262-unit off-price mid-tier department store chain saw its total sales for the four weeks grow 3.6% to $107.3 million. Comps jumped 8.2%.
For the 17-week year-to-date period, sales rose 3.7% to $428.7 million and comps grew 2.9%.
Linens along with ladies' casual sportswear, ladies' boutique and ladies' career sportswear posted the strongest sales for the month, the company reported.
Geographically, sales increased in every state, with Southeast ern units performing better than the chain and Northeastern stores performing slightly lower.
