BBB: Decision Day

Retail Editor 3, November 11, 2011

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Today is decision day for the Bed Bath and Beyond merchandising staff.
The giant retailer announced internally earlier this fall that it would relocate its entire buying staff from its offices here to the company's corporate headquarters in Summit, NJ. At the time, it gave employees until today to decide whether they would make the move or choose to leave the company. The move was expected to be a gradual one, culminating in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Bed Bath declined to comment on the announcement at the time and the closed-mouth company is not expected to provide any on the transition.
Vendors contacted by HTT provided various estimates on what percentage of the merchandising staff was expected to move, but no accurate count could be established by HTT.
