Statesville, N.C. - Shadow Mountain Inc., an importer of furniture and lighting, has partnered with veteran floor covering designer Ronnie Magee for a new area rug collection set to debut this week during the High Point Market.
Dubbed Tribal Fusion, the collection "merges two historical weaving design styles" - Southwest, and Caucasus Mountain tribal.
As a longtime enthusiast of Native American history and Caucasus design, Magee's designs for the collection echo that of Indian tribal decorative art.
"I've always wanted to do this, I see it as a natural fusion, blending these two styles produces an original and unique hybrid look," he said. "The Caucasus Mountains are the natural divide between East and West, but I wanted to bring them together and celebrate these wonderful ethnic styles."
All 65 rug skus - consisting of 13 patterns - are manufactured in the USA. They are made of nylon and employ the "EnduraStran" construction. The rugs are commercial grade, Shadow Mountain noted.
Patterns include Persian and Turkish motifs that have been incorporated into Native American designs and can be traced to the exchange of cultures in migration routes across the Bering Strait.
"The Caucasus color palette has been around for thousands of years, and we've been decorating with these colors for centuries," Magee explained.
There are five available sizes: 5-by-8, 8-by-11, 11-by-13, eight-foot square and 11-foot octagon.
Shadow Mountain's new showroom at High Point is in Market Square space M90.
