Pier eye for the designer guy

Fort worth, TX — Pier 1 Imports has signed one of the "Fab Five" from the popular television show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy to become its celebrity spokesperson, ending its three-year run with actress Kirstie Alley.
Thom Filicia, known as the interior design expert on the show and head of Thom Filicia Inc. in New York, will begin appearing in the "Get in Touch With Your Senses" advertising and marketing campaign, which will include broadcast and print media, in the spring.
"Thom is one of the top interior designers in the country. His expertise, creativity and charismatic personality are a perfect fit for Pier 1," said Phil Schneider, executive vp of marketing. "We think Thom's prominence as leading designer will connect with our customers and help strengthen Pier 1's position in the marketplace."
"I love Pier 1 — the look and feel of Pier 1 stores and the products that they carry are smart and energetic," said Filicia. "I have shopped at Pier 1 for myself and for my clients and find that everyone can identify with what Pier 1 is about from a design perspective. Simply put, good taste does not have to come at a high price."
