New York – WestPoint Home announced today that John Piazza has joined the company as its new president and ceo, effective immediately. Joe Pennacchio, previously ceo, is no longer with the company.
Prior to joining WestPoint, Piazza was a former senior corporate officer of Sara Lee Corporation and held various positions in divisions of Sara Lee, including the position of vp of marketing and ceo. Piazza received numerous awards of recognition during his career at Sara Lee, including being a 12-time recipient of the Record Performance Award for yearly profit and 7-time recipient of the President's Award for profit growth exceeding 15%.
Piazza intends to relocate to New York, but assumes his new duties as ceo at both WestPoint Home and its parent, WestPoint International, today. He will also serve on the board of directors of both companies.
Peter Shea, president of Icahn Enterprises – the majority stakeholder in WestPoint -- and a member of the board of directors for WestPoint Home, stated, “We are delighted to have Mr. Piazza join WestPoint Home and believe his successful track record in sales and marketing will be invaluable as the company re-establishes itself as the premier marketer of branded and private label home textile products.”
