Regional department store Bon-Ton Stores Inc. has launched a program for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with special promotions to support breast cancer research.
On Oct.7, Bon-Ton held a “Shop for a Cure” one-day shopping event. The company donated 1% of all purchases made on its proprietary credit card that day to research.
Over the course of the month, through Oct. 30, Bon-Ton will operate a “pink shop” in each of its 279 stores, with a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each item in the shop being donated to fund breast cancer research.
A special collection of 20 items for men, women and children will be sold in the pink shop. This merchandise includes a $9.99 reusable grocery tote bag designed by musician Sheryl Crow, a $6.99 pink hydration bottle with the signature pink ribbon, $24.99 men's pink ribbon cuff links, a $10 insulated lunch bags in a variety of colors, and a $19.99 spa-pampering tote with lotions, slippers and bubble bath. All items are available for purchase in-store, and several items are available online this month.
“For more than 10 years, the contributions from our 'Charge Against Breast Cancer' program have funded important research, which is critical to find a cure for this disease,” said Bud Bergren, president and ceo. “During October, our goal is to raise $250,000, and we believe our customers share our commitment to this cause.”
Bon-Ton supports other charities and raises money and awareness for other non-profit organizations, like the Goodwill with its Goodwill Sale and Community Day event.
