Bon-Ton looks to future growth

York, PA — Now that The Bon-Ton has doubled in size by acquiring Elder-Beerman, the company sees considerable opportunity to expand its store base, president and coo Frank Tworecke said during a quarterly conference call this week.
The retailer now operates 142 stores in 16 states, with revenues in excess of $1.3 billion. With its combined vendor matrix, some suppliers will be cut and others expanded, Bud Bergren, president and ceo, Elder-Beerman division, said. "We have the opportunity to choose the best suppliers."
The Bon-Ton also reported that its home area was one of the best performing categories for both the third quarter and the year-to-date.
