Allure Shower Curtains 'So Simple'
Cecile Corral -- Home Textiles Today, August 8, 2006
At the New York Market —It is really “so simple” to hang the new shower curtain collection conceived by Allure Home Creation.
Dubbed just that — So Simple — this patented new collection merchandises shower curtains with matching rings or hooks that are already attached.
“The idea is to sell the whole thing as one package for the customer; make it easier for them,” explained Gabrielle Colquitt, vp, design and marketing.
These sets come in 12 to 14 styles and a variety of fabrications for the shower curtains, including vinyl, poly-blend fabrics, wovens, waffle weaves, prints, and woven stripes.
The suggested retail price points start at $19.99.
Also new for Allure this market is an expanded offering of novelty bath coordinates — a category Colquitt said lately has been a strongpoint at retail for the company.
“We've really been very successful with them,” she added.
There are about 24 new novelty collections being shown — three times as many as Allure typically introduces during the home textiles markets. Of the new lines, 20 are in-house design and four feature the licensed artwork of Jay Jacoby, who is California-based and is known for his Hollywood-esque animated designs.
Of Allure's own styles, there are several juvenile and youth styles, mostly animal-themed. They include ducks, monkeys, fish and frogs.
But the thrust of the group is feminine looks, including the Bath Boudoir, which interprets bath tubs and vanities with French flair, and City Streets, based on European townhouses and their wrought-iron balconies and clay flower pots.
While each group includes bath towels, a rug, a shower curtain and bath accessories, Colquitt said that it is with the accessories — which are for the most part made of resin — that Allure had its most fun being creative.
For the ducks group, the lotion pump has a duck standing on rubber-made grass next to it; and the Frog group's toothbrush holder features little bugs on springs.
