Newport adds Daisy Kingdom pillows

At this week's annual winter market here, Newport will be launching a casual line of tapestry pillows under a new licensing partnership with Springs Industries' Daisy Kingdom license of whimsical and juvenile designs.

"We had a very good holiday season last year, so I am very optimistic again this year for our tapestry pillows under the new Daisy Kingdom license," said Corey Faul, president, Newport. "We're taking some of their whimsical designs, and we think they'll be very successful for our tapestry collection. They have a wealth of artwork in their archives that we thought was very applicable to tapestry."

The Portland, OR-based company typically introduces in decorative pillows a collection of opulent styles and a collection of casual tapestry pillows. The Daisy Kingdom pillows will comprise almost half — up to 15 designs — of Newport's 35 tapestry introductions.

Faul also noted that this year for winter market, Newport's pricing, especially for tapestries, will be more competitive. Newport's tapestries typically retail at an average of $12 to $15. However, this year price points are set between $10 and $12.

All the pillows will feature a cotton back with a cotton border or a velvet back with a velvet border.

Newport is also expanding its table linens offering by 50 percent, with an emphasis on tapestry runners and place mats. The entire collection coordinates with Newport's new tapestry pillows, Faul added.
