Kohl’s rolling out Chaps Home, ready for more brands

Milwaukee– The Kohl’s rollout of Chaps Home is nearly complete; the brand will officially debut next week in all stores with five bedding collections, executives said at today’s annual shareholders meeting here.
The next bed and bath rollout will take place late this summer: Daisy Fuentes Home will debut in August. This will be followed by the September launch of Food Network merchandise in the kitchen department.
At today’s meeting, Kohl’s displayed one bed that will be part of the fall launch of the exclusive Vera Wang collection, which will debut across several departments. Chairman and ceo Larry Montgomery said of the marketing plan, “It’s going to be big.”
As to the performance of home, Montgomery said, “It continues to be pretty close to the top, all last year and through today.” The average transaction is running at $50, said the $15.5 billion retailer, which operates 824 stores and is poised to open up to 115 new doors this fiscal year.
Fashion offerings across the store should be bolstered when Kohl’s officially moves into its New York design office in June, to be initially staffed with 30 people.
