Gee’s Bend quilts come to ABC – as rugs
Home & Textiles Today Staff -- Home Textiles Today, May 4, 2007
Barran has worked on licensing for several years with the rural African-American women known as the Gee’s Bend Quilters Collective, celebrated for their historic quilting tradition.
The ABC rugs are sourced from Turkey where, true to the Gee’s Bend ethos, already-used scraps of material were gathered and made into the rugs that are either copies of or inspired-by versions of the Alabama women’s quilts.
