Federated's Lundgren succeeds Zimmerman

Cincinnati — Terry Lundgren, currently president and ceo of Federated Department Stores, will add the title of chairman come Jan. 15th, succeeding James Zimmerman, who is retiring.

At a meeting earlier today, Lundgren was elected by Federated’s board to directors to become the company's seventh chairman/ceo. The company's five chairs — Thomas Cody, Tom Cole, Janet Grove, Susan Kronick and Ronald Tysoe — will continue to report to Lundgren, as they have since February.

Zimmerman was named chairman and ceo in 1997, having served as president and coo since 1988. He relinquished the ceo title to Lundgren in February of this year, when he announced his intention to retire within the next 12 months after a 38-year career with the company.
