Trio targets mid, upper tier in tufted rug launch
November 10, 2003-- Home Textiles Today,
Three rug industry veterans, colleagues and friends for more than 20 years, have formed Ves-Levi, a new accent and area rug company.
Paul Vesely, formerly president of the wholesale rug company Mer Corp., and Mikel Banilevi and David Banilevi — brothers who own and operate high-end hand-knotted rug company Aminco, are partners in the venture.
"Forming this new company seemed like a good idea," Vesely told HTT. "I wanted to make a change — it was needed for me. And the three of us are compatible. We bring complementary experience and strengths."
Ves-Levi, which officially opened its doors last week here, focuses primarily on hand-tufted, hand-hooked and hand-loomed rugs imported from various countries, but mainly China and India.
"What the rugs will not be is high-end knotted," Vesely said. "We will focus on the middle and upper ends of tufted rug business."
While specific price points are still being developed, Vesely said pricing will be "popular" and suited to furniture, department and specialty stores as well as floor covering dealers.
