New Chief Merch at Big Lots

COLUMBUS, OHIO - Big Lots Inc. has hired Richard Chene as executive vp, chief merchandising officer to oversee merchandising and global sourcing.
     He succeeds John Martin and will report directly to David Campisi, president and ceo.
    Previously, Chene was president of The Kitchen Collection, a subsidiary of Naaco Industries Inc. that operates a chain of kitchenware. He has also held senior merchandising positions with Petco, Sears Holdings Corporation, Giant Eagle, and the former May Company Department Stores.
     "Our edit to amplify merchandising strategy will focus on businesses that are top-of-mind with our target customer, Jennifer, and provide her with trend right product assortments at compelling values," said Campisi.
     Campisi noted that Chene is well known in the vendor community in several home categories, including kitchen products, food preparation, tabletop, housewares, and home textiles as well food, consumables, and pet-related products
     "He is a lifelong merchant with command and a track record of getting results. We're delighted to welcome him as a member of our executive leadership team," said Campisi.
