Mohawk balloons bath

At the New York Market - With a newly configured showroom space, Mohawk Home's bath rug division presented about 100 new collections across imported and domestically-made segments.

As David Record, director of global sourcing, pointed out: "We took the walls down in here, set up some [free-standing] racks, and layered the different looks and constructions we offer, and it's really made a difference."

This new approach allows Mohawk bath to showcase about 90% of its new wares on the floor.

"We are able to better highlight our capabilities - machine-made, hand-made, space-dyed, different fiber blends - along with mixing solids with patterns, and it's made it easier for buyers to see all that we can do, as soon as they walk into this room."

Among the many imported market introductions, the Jewel collection represents a new tufted construction with a six-color capability, compared to earlier versions that could only employ four to five colors.

In the domestic area of the showroom, two walls showcase Mohawk bath's vast solid color palette - as well as its construction options. Among the highlights for market are a new Invista-branded fiber product and the new Twist-Tech collection, a twisting technique that keeps the yarns in singles but delivers heftier weight and a softer touch, according to Pat Douglass, product manager, domestic bath.
