Kohl's unveils new home layout

When Kohl's cuts the grand opening ribbons on 15 new Atlanta-area stores tomorrow it will simultaneously unveil a renovated home section — the model for all new Kohl's openings going forward.

The home department, which comprises about 20 percent of the store, pulls together domestics, housewares and tabletop in a unified visual presentation. A home decor statement in the middle of the home area, which pulls together decorative pillows, rugs, throws, candles, frames and lighting in a cross-merchandised statement — product that was previously kept separate.

Assortments and price points have not changed, and the home department's footprint has been held steady at 20% of the store, Jack Moore, evp, gmm, home told Home Textiles Today.

Kohl's market entry into Georgia includes in Stockbridge; Conyers; Austell; Holcomb Bridge; Snellville; Fayetteville; Acworth; Hiram; Newnan; John's Creek; Merchants Walk; Roswell; Cumming; Woodstock; and Duluth. Fourteen sites were built from the ground up; one was a former Upton's location.

With these new locations, the department store retailer will operate 338 stores in 27 states.
