Shackelford poised to be president of ATMI
July 9, 2002-- Home Textiles Today,
Washington — The American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI) announced that, effective at the end of the month, Park Shackelford will assume the role of president.
As only the fourth president in the ATMI's history, Shackelford will be responsible for day-to-day operations. He will also fill the role of chief lobbyist.
Shackelford replaces long-time president Carlos Moore, who has held the position since 1985. Moore will remain with the ATMI on a part-time basis as the senior vp assisting Shackelford in the transition until next May.
Prior to assuming the lead role with the ATMI, Shackelford held a number of congressional and administration posts, including staff director for the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Cotton, Rice and Sugar; deputy administrator for State and County Operations at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA); assistant deputy administrator for farm programs as well as associate administrator for farm policy, both with the USDA. Immediately prior to his joining the ATMI, Shackelford was head of the company he founded, The Shackelford Co., an independent consulting firm.
