Carlstadt, N.J. -- Looking to cut back the amount of time its sales representatives spend in showrooms and increase their work dedicated to visiting retailers, upscale rug house Momeni Inc. is cutting back on its participation in markets with the closing of its longtime High Point, N.C. showroom.
Reza Momeni, president, said his sales staff has been “spending too much time in showrooms rather than on the road, where most of their business is built.”
Also working against “the influx of” markets is declining retailer traffic at these events, he added.
“An overall assessment of our presence at the various markets came into play,” he said of the company’s decision to shut down its International Home Furnishings Center showroom, where Momeni has leased space on the third floor for more than 10 years.
Momeni is also keeping its flagship showroom at company headquarters here.
